Error description

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

    Provide a KCA environment variable to allow for over-riding the
    location where the kcawd.pid file is written and searched for.
    This will allow the file which is a read-write file to be placed
    in a separate directory for customers wanting to separate
    read-only and read-write files.

    The change requires an update to several scripts to modify the
    kcawd.pid file location.

    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Provide an environment variable to allow for overriding
    location where kcawd.pid and .kcawd_disable_stop files are
    written. These files are currently written to
    $CANDLEHOME/$BINARCH/<pc>/bin directory. Customers who want
    to have these files written to a different location, in order
    to allow just 'Read-Only' files in the bin directory, can use
    the new environment variable KCAWD_WRITE_DIR.

    The new enviroment variable KCAWD_WRITE_DIR can be set in ux.ini
    or lz.ini file and must be set to an existing directory with
    read-write permissions.  For example:
       KCAWD_WRITE_DIR=$CANDLEHOME$/tmp

    NOTE: This new feature is supported by UNIX and Linux OS Agents
    using Watchdog.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been updated to check for the existence of
    KCAWD_WRITE_DIR and if set to a valid directory, the files are
    written to that location. If the environment variable is not
    set or the directory specified does not exist, the current,
    default directory of $CANDLEHOME/$BINARCH/<pc>/bin will be used.
