  IBM online Documentation.
  
  CREATE FUNCTION BASE64(BLOB) 'RETURNING LVARCHAR' EXTERNAL NAME
  'com.informix.judrs.IfxStrings.encosdeBase64(Blob)' language
  java;
  
  In above the function can Return lvarchar, It should be
  mentioned as 'RETURNING LVARCHAR(m)'.
  Here 'm' is integer value.
  
  This can be shown in a Syntax Diagram.
