APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Due to a mismatch between the Data Collector server name, which
in some cases may contain capital letters and in some cases
does not, or may have recently changed, the system fails to
execute the performance data jobs on the server side.

    In the performance log:
HWNPM2132W Performance data could not be collected for device
XXXXXXXXXX (XXXXXXXXX). The current samples are skipped.
(HWNPM4304E The request for performance data could not be
retrieved from the queue by the data collector, probably this
one is down or encountered problems connecting to the server).

    In the server log: traceDataCollectorManager_*.log

    [CollectorTaskManagerUtils.addDeviceToDataCollector] [ERROR]
    Exception thrown calling the dcms
    com.ibm.srm.datacollectormanager.api.DataCollectorManagerExcepti
on: Failed to execute the system action
    {"actionType":"ADD","system":{"systemID":{"systemUUID":"123ac123
    -1234-1234-1234-123456789"}}}

Local fix

  • This workaround can be applied immediately to resume data
    collection:

Edit the hosts file on the Data Collector machine to set it to
the original hostname (as seen in the Storage Insights GUI,
    Data Collector panel)

    Then restart the Data Collector.

On Windows, the hosts file is located at:

    C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

    On Unix machines it is:

    /etc/hosts
