IT31277: WINDOWS TASK SCHEDULE TASK FOR MICROSOFT EXCHANGE LOG BACKUP USES WRONG SECURITY OPTIONS "RUN ONLY WHEN USER IS LOGGED IN"

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Exchange log backup is enabled and windows task schedule
  task is created during Microsoft Exchange databases backup
  via Spectrum Protect Plus. However the log backup schedule
  task fails to run because security options use "Run only when
  user is logged on" and the specified user does not have a
  connected session all the time.
  

Local fix

• Manually change security options to "Run whether user is logged
  on or not"

  The default Windows Schedule Task for Microsoft Exchange Log
  Backup uses  "Run only when user is logged on" security option.
  This causes the log backup fail after the end user has logged
  off from Windows because of no enough security rights.
  

Problem conclusion

• IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for Microsoft Exchange has been fixed
  to use option "Run whether user is logged on or not? and ?Do not
  store password, the task will only have access to local computer
  resources.". The log backup succeeds after the end user has
  logged off from Windows.
