• The Application protection backup for Exchange displays the
  following symptoms :

  During the backup operation the VSS snapshot operation in the
  exchange agent is failing.
  The MicroSoft Exchange VSS writer is reporting a issue as seen
  in the joblog data collection bundle, in
  ../logs/application/<JobID>/<ExchangeServerAddress>/diag.zip_unp

  This is seen when the Database file and logs are located on the
  volume mounted in a directory.

Local fix

• Relocate the database and log files to a drive letter mount
  point instead of a directory.

Problem conclusion

• When a database is locate at root of mount point, the original
  code cannot handle the path string in correct way. And this will
  cause the backup job fail. As the fix, we modified the code
  logic to handle it in correct way.
