Error description

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus backups can hang when connecting to
    Vcenter. The condition occurs when the connection  attempt
    hangs due to poor performance on the Vcenter. A time-out
    will be placed in the code so that the hung connection is
    canceled and the backups continue. The problem was reported
    in 10.1.4, but it is possible to occur in an earlier version
    of Spectrum Protect Plus.

Problem conclusion

  • In certain conditions API calls from Spectrum Protect Plus to
    vCenter may hang or fail to return. This is due to an issue with
    the vCenter Client. A code change was made on the Spectrum
    Protect Plus side so that the call will eventually time out if
    it enters this condition.
