APAR status

Error description

  • Transfer failure happens when using Send file to host panel.
    There is no indication of any error and the panel just closes.
    It is observed that when transferring a file from the network
    folders if the path is more than 126 characters long the issue
    is reproducible. With 126 characters or less in the path name
    the issue is not present or the transfer goes through IND$FILE
    file transfer.

    Steps to reproduce the issue:
    1) Open PCOMM 3270 display session
    2) Navigate to ISPF command shell
    2) Click on Action -> Send file to Host
    3) Browse the file name (PC) having path with more than 126
    characters
    4) Set Host file name
    5) Set transfer type to Text
    6) Click on Add to list
    7) Click Send
    The Send Files to Host dialog disappears without transferring
    the file to the host.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This issue was the result of usage of a deprecated Microsoft API
    which was used to open the file to be transferred to the Host.
    Changes have been made to PCSXFER.DLL to use the updated
    Microsoft API.
    Fix scheduled for PCOMM 12.0.5 and 13.0.3 and 14.0.1 Refresh
