IT29120: SECTION ON 'LOOPBACK CONFIGURATION' ERRONEOUS AND INCOMPLETE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The section 'Loopback Configuration' under 'Loopback
  Replication' should be renamed to 'Defining a Loopback Server'
  first of all.
  
  Then it should list all the steps for doing exactly this, and
  the restrictions:
   - you define a new ER server on the same Informix instance that
  you want to run loopback replication on
   - this 'pseudo' (loopback) server should use an alias listed
  after the name used for the instance's main ER server
      in onconfig (DBSERVERNAME & DBSERVERALIASES)
   - it should be defined as a non-root server under the main
  server
   - you only can use one loopback server per instance
   - any (root or non-root) server in your ER domain can have a
  loopback pseudo server added
   - such ER loopback server (group) names must be unique in the
  ER domain as any other ER node names
  
  The sample command for defining such loopback pseudo server with
  the existing sqlhosts and onconfig example would be:
  
   cdr define server --connect=g_er_server g_loopback --init
  --sync=g_er_server --nonroot
  
  Errors spotted in the current section:
   - should be DBSERVERALIASES instead of DBSERVERALIAS
   - the new sqlhosts entries (group and server) are not 'pseudo'
  - the new ER server you're defining is
   - I think we should not say service where we mean listener or
  port
   - I'd also not say primary server, but main server instead
  (primary should be reserved for HDR/MACH11 replication, might
  even be used for specific ER servers in domain)
  
  The whole initial paragraph ("To setup loopback replication,
  define pseudo ER group in SQLHOSTS, and define new service
  within DBSERVERALIAS other than the one used for primary ER
  group name. Service name added for loopback pseudo group should
  appear after service name used for primary Enterprise
  Replication group.") should be rewritten according to the above.
