Error description

  • The server does NOT set 3592 drive to off-line even when the
    following I/O error was detected.

    ANR8302E I/O error on drive drive_name (/dev/IBMtape*) with
    volume volume_name (OP=LOCATE, Error Number= 5, CC=0, rc = 2869,
    KEY= 02, ASC=04, ASCQ= 03, SENSE=...). Refer to the IBM Spectrum
    Protect documentation on I/O error code descriptions.

    The LOCATE operation failure with SENSE data as 02/04/03 means a
    manual intervention required for the drive. This error is a
    hardware error, but currently the server handles this error as
    tape not loaded. In consequence of this issue, one or more tape
    volumes might be set to "Unavailable" due to the subsequent I/O
    error when it is mounted to the problematic drive.

    This problem may occur for 3592 drives only.

    The server should set the tape drive to off-line to prevent tape
    volumes from being marked "Unavailable."
