IT28737: WINDOWS CLIENT MAY CRASH ON STARTUP WITH GENERATING A CRASH DUMP

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Client programs like dsmc.exe, or dsmadmc.exe may crash on
    startup with generating a crash dump in case that it fails to
    retrieve data from Win32_OperatingSystem WMI class.  The failure
     may be caused by the corruption of WMI repository.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been changed so currently the Client stops
    processing if the WMI repository is corrupted.
    However the testflag SKIPWMIERROR allows the operation to
    continue.
