APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When performing PROTECT STGPOOL command with the parameters
    TYPE=LOCAL and RECLAIM=ONLY against tapes in a container-copy
    pool, the process ends with status success but does not actually
     reclaim the tapes and does not releases them back to scratch,
    even days after the primary container pools REUSEDELAY has
    exceeded.
    The issue is affecting only tapes with ACCESS=OFFSITE.
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    Run the following Db2 SQL to obtain a list of affected volumes:
    
    db2 "select volname, volid from as_volume_status where
    poolid=<container-copy pool ID> and access=3 and actocc>0 and
    not exists (select chunkid from sd_chunk_copies where
    copy_cntrid=volid) for read only with ur"
    
    
    If this SQL output is empty, you are not affected by the symptom
    of this APAR.
    
    IBM Spectrum Protect Server version Affected: All Spectrum
    Protect Server 8.1.x on all platforms
    
    Initial Impact: Medium
