IT28383: THE SERVER MAY CRASH WHEN STATUS MONITOR IS ENABLED.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • It is possible for the server to crash when monitoring is
    enabled. The server checks to see if there is backup data for
    VMs. If that fails, it will try to output a message to the FFDC
    log file. This causes the server to crash since there is a
    mismatch of data types being used.
    
    Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: 7.1.x and 8.1.x on all
    supported platforms

    The key piece here is the outFFDCLog entry. That is also found
    in the dsmserv.err or dsmsvc.err log

Local fix

  • Disable the status monitor with the following command from the
    server command line:
    
    Set STATUSMonitor Off
    
    You can confirm that it has been disabled with the following
    command:
    
    Query MONITORSEttings
    
    This will show the Monitor Status is off
