Error description

  • Some unknown application sent a message to the queue server.
The message had some garbage content. The queue server
reported an FDC complaining about IPC problems. It was then
rendered inoperable. A restart of the queue server solved the
    problem.

Local fix

  • NA

Problem summary

  • If the Queueserver processes a random message,
which passed the message check, the Queueserver can become
unresponsive. That can happen when a process (a customer
application for instance) accidentally opens the Queueserver
    and sends an application message.
The garbage message has not been stored in the filesystem.
A root cause analysis is then no longer possible.
If the message content were present, this can help to identify
the application that sent the message.

Problem conclusion

  • The Queueserver creates an FDC and dumps the
message content if the message check identified a garbage
message. If a follow up garbage message passes the message check
and makes the Queuserver unresponsive, there are at least FDCs
containing formerly received garbage messages. Their content
enables the user to identify the application which sent the
    garbage message.

Temporary fix

  • There is no workaround for this problem.
