Error description

  • When running a VM backup of Hyper-V guests, and one of the
    Hyper-V guests migrates to another Hyper-V host during backup,
    the IBM Spectrum Protect client might crash.

    The issue is only seen on Microsoft Windows 2012R2 Hyper-V hosts

Local fix

  • Apply one of the following workarounds:
    - Migrate the Hyper-V hosts to Microsoft Windows Server 2016
    - avoid VM migrations while backups are running.

Problem conclusion

  • The  Data Protection for Microsoft Hyper-V has been changed to
    issue a message and continue processing other virtual machines
    when one of the vm has moved to another HyperV host.
