Error description

  • An IBM Spectrum Protect Plus backup attempts to
    download the VMware VM's .vmx file from the
    VMware ESXi host and will try 5 times. If this
    fails IBM Spectrum Protect Plus should then retry
    and attempt to download the file through the vCenter.
    This additional retry through the vCenter is not occurring.

Problem conclusion

  • It was determined that, in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.2,
    backup jobs failed when IBM Spectrum Protect Plus was not able
    to connect to the ESX server. In IBM Spectrum Protect Plus
    10.1.1, it was downloading from vCenter.
    IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is being enhanced to failback to
    download datastore file from vCenter when it fails to
    download file from ESX host.
