Error description

  • QUERY DEDUPSTATS displays wrong values for the "Unique Extent
Space Used" and "Shared Extent Space Used" fields when
    compression is used.
For example, QUERY DEDUPSTATS displays the following values for
    a node and filespace.

    Total Space Used (MB): 26,418
    Non-Deduplicated Extent Space Used: 2,824,502
    Unique Extent Space Used: 55,159,308,815
    Shared Extent Space Used: 3,541,038,600
    Compression Savings: 31,073,914,126
    Compression Percentage: 52.87

    The expected result is:
Total Space Used = "Non-Deduplicated Extent Space Used" +
"Unique Extent Space Used" + "Shared Extent Space Used"

When compression is used, the "Unique Extent Space Used" and
"Shared Extent Space Used" display greater values than what they
    should be.

    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
All IBM Spectrum Protect server 7.1.5 or newer.

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable)
    None

    Initial Impact:
    Low

    Additional Keywords:
TSM SP generate dedupstats directory-container directory
    container cloud TS001709731

Local fix

  • "Total Space Used (MB)" is the total space used after
deduplication and compression. It is the correct value for
    reporting purposes.
