Error description
When running update statistics high for a table using fragment level statistics and containing many fragments the amount of memory used by the session may become very large. For example a table defined with interval fragmentation having 620 million rows over more than 600 fragments consumed around 2.4 GB memory for a sort pool when running update statistics high for a serial8 column. If the table schema is altered so that fewer fragments are used then the update statistics command will require less memory.
