Error description

  • Personal Communications v12.0.2/13.0.1 with 5250 connection.
    Japanese locale
    
    The customer uses data transfer for download on PCOM.
    The download ttx has 1200 as PC Codepage for convert table.
    However if tto file is opened on data transfer, the PC Codepage
    gets changed to 367. It seems unable to use 1200 as PC Codepage
    for convert table.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * With iSeries-PC Data Transfer application (PCSFT5.EXE),      *
    * Select host code 1027 Japan (Latin) Extendedc                *
    * (JIS2004/UNICODE) with PC Code Page 1200 and save into TTO   *
    * file. Relaunch pcsft5.exe and Open the same TTO file and it  *
    * does not load PC Code page that was saved.                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Steps to recreate the problem:
    1) Open PCSWS 5250 display session
    2) From Action Menu, click Receive File From Host
    iSeries-PC Data Transfer (PCSFT5.EXE) is started
    3) Click on Setup -> Translation Table Menu, It opens the
    Translation Table Setup window.
    4) Select User defined radio button, host code page 1027 & 1200
    PC Code page.
    5) Save the same into TTO file. Close the pcsft5.exe
    6) Relaunch the pcsft5.exe and open the saved TTO file.
    The selected pc code page 1200 was not listed.
    PC File type issue (Japanese Environment only):
    1) Repeat the above steps from 1 to 4.
    2) Close the Translation Table Setup dialogue by pressing close
    icon/cancel button.
    3) Go to Disk: Advanced" option -> PC file type
    4) PC file type should be Unicode text type
    

Problem conclusion

  • This issue occurred due to PComm host code page array not
    storing the PC Code page 1200, mapped with 1027 & 290 host code
    page case. PCSFT5.EXE has been changed to correct this problem.
    Fix is scheduled for PCOMM 13.0.2.1 and 12.0.4.2 Fix Packs and
    14.0.1 Refresh Pack.
