Error description

  • The environment is installed with IBM
Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.2 Build 105. Backup of VM failed
with below error message:
Backup of vm w2k12stu07 failed. Error: Backup Error. Unable
to determine value in encodeURL
Below error is logged in virgo log file:
VMware exception:  com.catalogic.ecx.serviceprovider.common.
hypervisor.exception.HypervisorVMBackupException: Backup Error.
Unable to determine value in encodeURL

Problem conclusion


    

  • It was determined that, in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, backup
jobs failed in the manner described by the Error Description
when DNS was not configured. The product has been updated to
be more resilient when DNS is not configured.

    



Temporary fix


    

  •  Fix the DNS issue on Spectrum Protect Plus
