Error description

  • A rerun of an IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Db2 Application restore
operation of a Db2 database might fail because the previously
failed restore operation did not clean up all directories that
were created during this previous restore operation.

In the Joblog of the restore operation the following error can
    be found:
'Cancelling restore. One or more target directories are not
empty. The following directories, symbolic links or files have
    existing data: /db2_log/log/NODE0000'

The same error can occur for other directories as well if they
    were not cleaned up correctly.

    Products & versions affected:
IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Version 10.1.2 using Db2 Application
    Agent

    Platforms affected:
    AIX, Linux

Local fix

  • After a failed Db2 restore one of the following can be used:
    - Manually clean up the Db2 log directory or any other directory
or symbolic link mentioned in the error message on the Db2
application server and rerun the Db2 restore operation with the
same options used for the previously failed restore.
    - Rerun the Db2 restore operation with the 'Overwrite existing
    databases' option selected.
