IT26896: RESTORE IMAGE OF DISK WITH 4K BLOCK FAILS WITH ANS1070E WRITE ERROR

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• IBM Spectrum Protect backup-archive client does not support
  backup and restore of disks with 4K block size.
  Image backup will work fine, but restore fails with error
  ANS1070E.
  Documentation needs to be updated to reflect this limitation.

• Perform the restore of image through restore to file or contact
  IBM support for further assistance

Problem conclusion

• Now if the disk contains 4k disk block then during image backup
  ba client does not support the image backup of such disks and
  displays the message:
  
  ANS1228E Sending of object '/fs1' failed.
  
  
  and dsmerror.log contains the following message:
  
   ANS1044W Image backup of disk '/dev/fslv04' with disk sector
  size '4096' is not supported.
  Image backup supports only disks with 512 bytes sector.
