Error description

  • Environment:
    PCOMM 12.0.2 or 13.0
    Windows 7 or Windows 10

When PCOMM data transfer is executed, we are asked to enter
user ID and password. I think that the password entered at that
time will be cached in the registry of the PC.
However, it will be correctly written to the registry only when
it is a password of a specific string. Some password strings
are not correctly written to the registry. Therefore, each time
data transfer is executed, PCSFT429 or PCSFT430 error occurs
and I will be prompted to enter the password each time.

    Steps to recreate the problem:
    1)	Open PCSWS 5250 display session
    2)	From Action Menu, click Receive File From Host
iSeries-PC Data Transfer (PCSFT5.EXE) is started
    3)	Click on Browse of Library/File (Member)
    4)	Input User ID and Password in popup dialog
    5)	Data transfer is successful
    6)	Close iSeries-PC Transfer

Problem conclusion

  • This issue occurs due to the encryption algorithm failing to
accurately save the user password when certain character
sequence is part of the password. PCSFT5.EXE has been changed to
    resolve this.

Fix is scheduled for PCOMM 12.0.4.2 and 13.0.2.1 Fix Packs
