IT26498: INVENTORY JOB FAILURE FOR ESXI HOSTS POWERED OFF, DISCONNECTED OR IN MAINTENANCE MODE

Error description

  • When an ESXi host is powered off or disconnected or in
    maintenance mode, the inventory will display messages in the job
     log similar to :

Problem conclusion

  • It was determined that an inventory job, which contains
    an ESXi host that is powered off or in maintenance mode,
    completes, but it issues messages that might be misleading.
    To fix this issue, the job will still complete, but the
    message will be clearer.  The following are (or are similar
    to) the messages that will be displayed after the fix:
    "Host is in maintenance mode: <hostname>"
    "Host is not powered on: <hostname>"
    

Temporary fix

  • Remove the ESXi host from the vCenter inventory.
