Error description

  • IBM Spectrum Control is unable to configure Cloud Object Storage
to SC GUI. Error message: BPCUI0056E Cannot connect to the
    storage system or cluster.

Trying add /configure COS system to Spectrum Control has failed
with the error in SC GUI "BPCUI0056E Cannot connect to the
    storage system or cluster."
The underlying error in the trace files under SC Device Server,
    TestConnection_ExternalProcess.log shows < HWNEP0304E Cannot
connect to IBM Cloud Object Storage >
    and the exceptions is "java.security.cert.CertificateException:
No subject alternative names matching IP address found".

That error can occur in some scenarios as identified below :
    - the hostname or IP address in the COS Manager certificate
doesn't match the resolved DNS name in the SC code, hence
certificate is not accepted and the connection failed
    - the DNS server returns two entries for the COS hostname while
only one is expected in SC
    - the resolved COS's hostname or IP address in Spectrum Control
is the shortname not the FQDN in the certificate

EXPECTED RESULT: SC should handle the IP address / hostname of
the COS and matches with the one in the COS Manager server side
    certificate
