Error description

• The IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments configuration
  wizard, or
  File Level Restore log in will fail if the vSphere credentials
  used to log in contains a space in the user name, or contains
  any non-numerical characters in the password
  Example:  ID:  domain\my username
       password:   mypass&word
  Initial impact: high
  Platforms affected: Windows, Linux
  Versions affected: 7.1, 8.1
  

Local fix

• Use the command line to set the  user name and password:
  Example 1: userid/password contains single quote and/or space
  (use double quotes to qualify the two values):
  C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient>dsmc set password
  -type=domain "d ma'in\us er" "tem pa'ss"
  Example 2: password contains double quote and space (use single
  quotes to qualify the values):
  C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient>dsmc set password
  -type=domain "d ma'in\us er" 'tem pa"ss'

Problem conclusion

• Configuration wizard in IBM Spectrum Protect for VMware UI will
