IBM Spectrum Protect Server V8.1 Fix Pack 7 (V8.1.7) Downloads
APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
There is a timing window in the IBM Spectrum Protect server that can result in the following messages being reported upon fragment deletion from a disk storage pool: ANR9999D_0383170029 BvAddBitParticipation(bvtxn.c:388) Thr ead<242>: Incompatible txn type 4 to add txnType BvTxnBit s. ANR9999D_4080383722 DeallocRange(dsalloc.c:4005) Thread<24 2>: Error 9975 deallocating free map bits for volume id 121029. ANR9999D_3714899315 DfDeallocSegments(dferase.c:1566) Thre ad<242>: ssDealloc failed, rc=9975 messages. This will only be seen on a restart of the server and only for the case where a file with fragments was deleted for some reason or migrated to another storage pool and the server was restarted before the background thread performing the fragment deletion finishes or that thread has an error on the deletion. IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: all supported Initial Impact: Low Additional Keywords: TSM fragments
Local fix
Set SPLITLARGEOBJECTS to NO for each of the nodes or don't back up objects larger than the MAXFRAGMENTSIZE setting to a disk storage pool You might also ignore the warning message, however it might be reported again upon the next server start
