APAR status

Error description

  • When moving from one screen to another in the IBM Spectrum
    Protect Plus
    dashboard, a pop-up error displaying:
    "ResourceAccessException"
    A problem occurred while carrying out the requested operation.
    The error does not keep the functionality in the specific web
    page from
    working once "OK" is clicked.
    This problem has been seen when the discovery and config servers
    are not running on the
    IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server.
    To confirm this is the case, attempt to open the following URL,
    making sure to fill in
    the correct IP address for the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server:
    http://<spp_ip_address>:8761/eureka/apps
    If the above link displays anything but a log in prompt, you are
    seeing this apar. If a log in prompt shows, you are not
    seeing this apar. You do not need to attempt to log on.
    Initial impact: Medium
    Versions affected: 10.1.0
    

Local fix

  • Manually start the discovery and config services. SSH to the
    IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server. Log in with root and run the
    following two commands:
    [root@localhost ~]# /etc/init.d/sppcfgsrv restart
    sppcfgsrv stoping ...
    sppcfgsrv stopped ...
    Starting sppcfgsrv ...
    [root@localhost ~]# /etc/init.d/sppdscsrv  restart
    sppdscsrv stoping ...
    sppdscsrv stopped ...
    Starting sppdscsrv ...

Problem conclusion

  • This problem has been resolved by converting the discovery and
    config server services to systemd services which provides
    auto-restart logic.
