IT23700: INSTALLATION OF DATA PROTECTION SAP DB2/ORACLE FAILS WITH AN ILLEGAL INSTRUCTION EXCEPTION

Error description

• The installation of IBM Spectrum Protect for Enterprise Resource
  Planning: Data Protection for SAP for DB2 crashes.  The
  exception error shown in the Microsoft Windows event logs
  indicate that ?IBM Java is not installed?.  This message is
  misleading as the installer does not require a specific Java
  version to be installed.  The install package includes a JVM
  that will be used during the installation. The following is an
  example of the error found in the event log:

Local fix

• The installation package can be started with a command line
  argument that calls a JVM that is installed on the system. The
  Java version that is installed must be a current version of 1.7
  or any 1.8 Java.
  
  The command line call to start the installer with a different
  JVM is:
  7.1.3.0-ERPDB2-Windowsx86_64.exe LAX_VM "C:\Program
  Files\Java\jre1.8\bin\java.exe"
  
  This installation issue is not present in IBM Spectrum Protect
  for Enterprise Resource Planning: Data Protection for SAP for
  DB2 and Oracle version 8.1 packages, as those use a newer
  version of JVM.
