IT22834: TIERING PROCESS ENDS PREMATURELY BEFORE DURATION HAS BEEN REACHED

Error description

  • An IBM Spectrum Protect server tiering process may end before
    the duration of the STGRULE has been reached.
    
    This condition is hit after 24 hours has passed since the
    STGRULE was created. The time between start and end is well
    below the duration limit.
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    Looking at the activity log, the tiering process begins and ends
    within minutes with the following behavior:
    
    ANR0139I Cloud tiering process 336 identified 33 files for node
    NGDNODE15, file space /data to tier from storage pool NGDEDUP2
    to storage pool AMAZONCLOUD.
    
    ANR0139I Cloud tiering process 336 identified 240,852 files for
    node NGDNODE16, file space \\tsmcfarm1d\e$ to tier from storage
    pool NGDEDUP2 to storage pool AMAZONCLOUD.
    
    ANR0139I Cloud tiering process 336 identified 240,876 files for
    node NGDNODE17, file space \\tsmcfarm1d\e$ to tier from storage
    pool NGDEDUP2 to storage pool AMAZONCLOUD.
    
    ANR3284W Tiering process 336 terminated for storage pool
    NGDEDUP2 - duration exceeded.
    
    The tiering process has not started to stream files to the cloud
    and immediately stops after identifying eligible files.
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
    IBM Spectrum Protect version 8.1.3 on all supported platforms.

Local fix

  • Set the STGRULE DURATION parameter to NOLIMIT.
