Error description

  • Mounting a Linux snapshot using iSCSI, where the disk is
formatted as GPT, and is great than 2TB
on a Linux machine can fail.
This scenario requires a Windows Recovery Agent to provide the
    iSCSI target which is then
    mounted on Linux.
The Linux mount command will fail saying:
/dev/sdXY: cannot open (No such file or directory), where X is
    c,d,e...., and Y is 1,2,3...
    For example:
/dev/sde1: cannot open (No such file or directory)
    Initial impact: Medium
    Platforms affected: Linux
    Versions affected: 8.1.0, 8.1.2

Local fix

  • Restore the full VM or specific Hard Disk

Problem conclusion

  • Linux iSCSI mount from Data Protection for VMware Recovery Agent
GUI fails if the disk is over 2 TB. The code has been changed so
that Data Protection for VMware Recovery Agent GUI can process
    the disk size correctly.
