Error description

  • Logon to the vCenter web client and access the IBM Spectrum
Protect plug-in. From the getting started page, access the
schedules tab. This generates the following error :

"GVM5002E: An error occurred: _1059[0].schedGroup is undefined.
Log out and log in again. If the problem persists, contact your
    administrator for assistance."

This error is logged when both following conditions are met :

    1) IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments was upgraded to
version 8.1.2 and then the upgrade was rolled back to an
       earlier version.
    2) The vCenter web client plug-in still shows a version of 8.1.2
while the currently installed IBM Spectrum Protect for
Virtual Environments product is at a version lower than 8.1.2

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics :

Verify the version of plug-in by selecting the following
in the vSphere web client :

    IBM Spectrum Protect:
     Getting Started and Connections
       -> Getting Started
         -> About this product

Local fix

  • 1. With a browser go to :
        https://<vCenter.host.name>/mob/?moid=ExtensionManager
You should be prompted with a credential request.
       Enter with the vSphere user
Verify that the following plug-in is installed :
        - com.ibm.tsm.tdpvmware.IBMDataProtection

    2. Unregister the plugin :

    . Windows
Open a Windows command prompt and run the following command :

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common
    Files\Tivoli\TDPVMware\VMwarePlugi
    n\unregister_vcenter_extension.cmd" <vCenter Server address>
    <vCenter User ID> <vCenter User Password>

    .Linux
Open a shell and run the following command :
    /opt/tivoli/tsm/tdpvmware/common/scripts/unregisterPlugin.sh

The script prompts you to enter the following information:
    - vCenter host (enter the new hostname for the vCenter)
    - user ID
    - password

    3. Verify as done in step 1 that the plugin is gone.
        Go to https://<vCenter.host.name>/mob/?moid=ExtensionManager
     and check for :
      - com.ibm.tsm.tdpvmware.IBMDataProtection
If the plug-in is not removed, you can remove it manually
by clicking on "UnregisterExtension" in the lower part of
the window and in the next pop-up window fill
in the Extension key with the
     com.ibm.tsm.tdpvmware.IBMDataProtection value and click on
"Invoke Method" to execute the removal.

    4. When the plug-in is removed, register the plugin again :

    . Windows
Open a Windows command prompt and run the following command :

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common
    Files\Tivoli\TDPVMware\VMwarePlugi
    n\register_vcenter_extension.cmd" <vCenter Server address>
    <vCenter User ID> <vCenter User Password> 9081

    Linux
Open a shell and run the following command :
    /opt/tivoli/tsm/tdpvmware/common/scripts/registerPlugin.sh

The script prompts you to enter the following information:
    - vCenter host (enter the new hostname for the vCenter)
    - user ID
    - password
    - port (enter 9081)

    5. Restart the web browser and the vCenter Web client service
and verify that the plugin is available and shows the correct
       version.
