Error description
Server version 8.1 included DB2 11.1. Applying IBM Spectrum Protect maintenance through upgrade to levels which include a DB2 fixpack upgrade will reduce the license capabilities This affects 8.1.0.000 to 8.1.1.000 upgrade, 8.1.0.000 to 8.1.2.000 upgrade, and 8.1.1.000 to 8.1.2.000 upgrade. This limits memory usage to 128GB, so on systems with more memory installed, reduced performance my be seen, and the DB2 service cannot use more than 128GB of memory. The IBM DB2 OEM High Capacity Feature not being licenced puts a limit (16) on the number of core processors that can be used which is what may also lead to reduced performance Before the fixpack update, DB2 license information would show DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition licensed: C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\db2\BIN>db2licm.exe -l Product name: "DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition" License type: "Restricted" Expiry date: "Permanent" Product identifier: "db2aese" Version information: "11.1" After the fixpack update, DB2 license information will now show DB2 Advanced Workgroup Server Edition license installed with 128GB memory limitation: C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\db2\BIN>db2licm.exe -l Product name: "DB2 Advanced Workgroup Server Edition" License type: "Restricted" Expiry date: "Permanent" Product identifier: "db2awse" Version information: "11.1" Max amount of memory (GB): "128" Features: IBM DB2 OEM High Capacity Feature: "Not licensed" It does not stop the server from running with the upgraded maintenance level, it just changes the license to use the reduced feature of having 128GB memory as maximum amount of usable memory.
