Error description
Directory container storage pools can have both "Dedup" and "Non Dedup" containers. - Dedup containers contain deduplicated data. - Non dedup containers contain data that is not deduplicated. This type of data includes metadata, encrypted data, and data that is too small for data deduplication. - When data is sent to a server directory container storage pool it is either written to a container with free space or a new container is allocated. When filesystem has no available free space, and one container type (Dedup or Non Dedup) has no writable space, the following message will be issued: ANR0522W Transaction failed for session ### for node NODE_NAME - no space available in storage pool DIRECTORY_CONTAINER_POOL_NAME and all successor pools. Since one container type may still have writable space, it may not be obvious what type of space is not currently available. The server should be updated to more clearly display information about available space in directory container storage pools. Versions Affected: Tivoli Storage Manager server versions 7.1.3 and higher All IBM Spectrum Protect server versions Initial Impact: Medium Additional Keywords: TSM full chunks ANR0522W Pool out of space
Local fix
Review SHOW SDP for more detailed information about the directory container pool. Example SHOW SDP output: SD Pool DIRECTORY_CONTAINER_POOL_NAME (4): Needs Refresh: False Maximum Size: 0 FsCapacity: 79644708 MB FsFreeSpace: 0 MB DedupCntrAllocSpace: 79588330 MB DedupCntrUsedSpace: 71878408 MB DedupCntrFreeSpace: 7709922 MB NonDedupCntrAllocSpace: 49549 MB NonDedupCntrUsedSpace: 49549 MB NonDedupCntrFreeSpace: 0 MB PoolCapacity: 79637879 MB PoolFree: 7709922 MB Dedup Reserved Space: 17434 MB Non Dedup Reserved Space: 0 MB Compression Enabled: No Last Space Check: 2017-09-20 10:13:55 Notice in above output that both NonDedupCntrFreeSpace and FsFreeSpace are 0. FsFreeSpace - Displays available filesystem space to allocate more containers. DedupCntrFreeSpace - Displays available space in allocated containers to create new dedup extents. NonDedupCntrFreeSpace - Displays available space in allocated containers to create new non-dedup extents.
