• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When probing a disk with many volumes, IBM Spectrum Control
  incorrectly interpets the lengthy processing time as a hung
  condition and times out the probe, leading to failure.
  The following error will be seen in probe logs:
  HWN020103E The external process exceeded the timeout limit and
  was canceled.
  The issue was reported on EMC VMAX but is possible on any device
  probed vis SMI-S.
  RECREATE STEPS: Run probe on a disk with thousands of volumes.
