APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Description: It is possible for an upgrade to fail when
    DB2 does a check before running the upgrade. This is caused when
     using dsmdb2pw.dll to authenticate a domain login outside of
    IBM Spectrum Protect.  This causes it to fail on db2 connect or
    db2ckupgrade but can still be used through the server to
    authenticate. Since this is in the precheck, the server is not
    upgraded.
    
    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: 7.1 and 8.1 on Windows
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics: Review of the DB2ckupgrade log shows
    the following:
    
    DBT5509N  The db2ckupgrade utility failed because it could not
    connect to the database. Database: "TSMDB1".
    DBT5537I  The db2ckupgrade utility has completed processing for
    database "TSMDB1". Database: "DB2TSM1"
    DBT5525N  The db2ckupgrade utility failed with an unhandled
    error.
    
    Initial Impact: Medium
