Error description

  • If an IBM Spectrum Protect server administrative schedule is
defined with the WAIT=YES parameter the schedule MAXRUNTIME
    parameter is ignored.

As an example, the following two admin schedules will honor the
    MAXRUNTIME parameter
    backup stgpool <SRCPOOL> <TRGTPOOL>
    backup stgpool <SRCPOOL> <TRGTPOOL> wait=no.

The maxruntime parameter is ignored with the following schedule
    definition:
    backup stgpool <SRCPOOL> <TRGTPOOL> wait=yes.

The behaviour is expected and working as designed, however a
message should be issued so the administrator is aware that the
    command will run to completion.
The notion is that if WAIT=YES is specified, that it should run
to completion because there is an expected "next" dependent
action in a script or such that is awaiting that completion.

IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: 7.1.1 and newer, 8.1
      Initial Impact: Low
      Additional Keywords: schedule TSM DURATION

Local fix

  • do not specify WAIT=YES if you want the MAXRUNTIME to be in
    effect
