    We see this line :
"Total snapshot difference objects: 38 678"
which means the client saw 38678 objects that changed as
reported by the NetApp filer snapdiff feature.
This number should be equal to what the Netapp "apitest" tool
(available from NetApp SDK) would report as changed objects
between the same filer volume snapshots (Base and differences
snapshots) as used by the backup process.

In reality, this is not the case.

"Total snapshot difference objects" might report more objects
than the "apitest" tool when directories containing more
    subdirectories and files are created.

This is a cosmetic issue only and does not affect backup
    consistency.

Problem conclusion

  • The issue in the calculation of snapshot difference objects in
the case of a newly created or just fully removed folder has
    been fixed.
Note that the calculation does not include objects having the
change type 'inode_modification' whose contents have not been
changed. For information about the 'inode_modification' see the
NetApp documentation. You can use the auditlogging option to
generate an audit log that contains an entry for each file that
is processed during the snapshot differential backup.
