APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A cluster is never deleted if it  remains empty, with no
hypervisors in it. Moreover the future probes will fail if a new
cluster is created with the same name after the first one has
    been deleted from vCenter.

    ESXi probe contains following error:
BTAVM2207E Calculation of the summary data for the <hypervisor
    name> failed.

The errors are caused by following update which fails because of
an index violation ( unique index on CLUSTER_NAME + DOMAIN_NAME
    ):

    update T_RES_CLUSTER set CLUSTER_UID=?, CLUSTER_NAME=?,
    CLUSTER_TYPE=?, DOMAIN_NAME=? where CLUSTER_UID=?

And older cluster with the same name and domain, which has been
deleted from vCenter still exists in SC database.
Because of that older cluster, hypervisor new clusters are not
    correctly updated.

Scenario which lead to this error:

    Create a new cluster 'C_NEW'
Move ESXi hosts from 'C' to 'C_NEW'
    Delete 'C'
    Renamed 'C_NEW' to 'C'

The initial 'C' remains in the SC database.
Even if retention period was 2 weeks, and 19 days went by since
its last discover time, it was not deleted from the database.
