IT18917: PUREAPPLICATION SYSTEM: "CWZKS7037E INSUFFICIENT STORAGE" ERROR OCCURS WHEN TRYING TO DEPLOY PATTERNS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• User may fail to deploy a new pattern onto the system and the
  following error message pops up on the pattern deploy page :
  CWZKS7037E Insufficient storage at any location to deploy a
  virtual machine from vm-template [VM TEMPLATE NAME]
  
  In the kernel Services log the following placement exception
  can be found:
  
  com.ibm.maestro.kernel.placement.PlacementService
    method=placeTopology exception, e=
    com.ibm.maestro.kernel.placement.exception.PlacementException:
     CWZKS7037E Insufficient storage at any location to deploy
     a virtual machine from vm-template [VM TEMPLATE NAME]
  
  The internal Storwize V7000 storage nodes still have available
  storage space for the system LUN used by the deployment system.
  However, there is an external storage device connected to the
  rack which is over-committed, this causes a negative value on
  its corresponding storage pool which results in the rack
  reporting an insufficient amount of storage available for new
  deployments.
  

Local fix

• Contact IBM Support for relief of this situation.
  

Problem summary

• The placement code needs to filter out the external
  storage when processing the placement request for
  deployments.
  

Problem conclusion

• A code fix is being provided in PureApplication System and
  BlueMix Local System version 2.2.3.0.
