IT17404: PUREAPPLICATION SYSTEM: TIMING ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE UPLOAD JOBS CAN CAUSE A TIMEOUT ISSUE IMPORTING OVA

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When multiple OVA file import jobs run at the same time, the
  second one will wait for the first one to complete and then
  run.  There is an intermittent timeout issue that can occur if
  many upload jobs are submitted at once.
  
  It is possible in rare cases that some of the upload jobs may
  time out and fail before the appropriate resources become
  available for them to run.
  
  In this case the image import failed and the error in the job
  log was: "CWZIP1957E An error occurred during the import into
  the image repository: CWZIP8014E Some of the VIOS on compute
  node [server_id] don't have a 1MB disk attached. Attach a
  ${1}MB disk to each VIOS and retry."
  
  This error message is misleading, the problem is actually in
  commands being issued using the VIOS command line interface
  (CLI) that are not processing correctly.
  

Local fix

• Resubmit the failed upload jobs once the others complete.
  

Problem summary

• There was a communication issue where commands being issued
  through the VIOS command line interface (CLI) was expecting a
  CLI prompt in order to echo commands, but was not processing
  correctly. Retry code to get the expected prompt has been added.
  

Problem conclusion

• A code fix is being provided in PureApplication System and
  BlueMix Local System version 2.2.3.0.
