APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After upgrading to the IBM Spectrum Protect 7.1.6.0 client,
  virtual machine backups
  can rebind incorrectly leading to older versions expiring early.
  This problem can be seen under the following conditions.
  - 7.1.6.0 client is installed.
  - The vmname used with the include.vm option does not match the
  casing as seen in VMware.
  
  Example:
  VMware vmname: 'MyVmwareVm'
  include.vm setting:  include.vm myvmwarevm mgmtclass
  
  
  Other options where vmname became case-sensitive:
  
  INCLUDE.VMSNAPSHOTATTEMPTS
  "VM=" and "-VM=" lists in "backup vm" and DOMAIN.VMFULL
  INCLUDE.VAPP
  
  
  Initial Impact: HIGH
  Version affected: 7.1.6.0
  Platforms affected: Windows & Linux

Local fix

• Verify the VMware vmname used in the include.vm setting matches
  the casing in VMware.

Problem conclusion

• The behavior is fixed to be the same as in previous versions.
  

Temporary fix

• A fix for this problem is currently targeted for Tivoli Storage
  Manager Client on Linux x86 and  Windows x64 for interim fix
  package 7.1.6.2
  Note1: Until a Data Protection for VMware packaged fix of a
  fixing Tivoli Storage Manager Client level is available, Data
  Protection for VMware customers can install an use a fixed level
  of the the Tivoli Storage Manager Client in their environment.
  Note 2: This is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
