APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Slow performance is observed for an operation involving the
  mount of tape volumes in a library of type SCSI and VTL.
  
  The actlog and QUERY MOUNT commands show that it takes
  unexpectedly long, up to several minutes, for tape volumes to
  be mounted for the operation.
  
  There may be various other reasons for volume mount delays also
  affecting the operations performance. To verify whether this
  APAR (also) applies a server trace with flags PVR MMS is
  needed. It will show multiple repeats of the following
  sequence:
  
  14:45:19.964 [15477][pvr.c][11634][PvrOpenAutoDevice]:
  Library SCSILIB1 opened with handle 16 success
  
  14:45:19.964 [15477][mmsscsi.c][12945][OpenAutoDevice]:Open
  failed for changerdevicefile1 with open handle 16 and
  return code 0.
  
     [ ... 5 second delay ... ]
  
  14:45:24.964 [15477][mmsscsi.c][12990][OpenAutoDevice]:Open
  changerdevicefile1 successful with handle 16.
  
  As seen above, the library object is successfully opened
  followed by an open failure for its associated device file.
  Then there is a 5 second delay until the associated device file
  is successfully opened.

  7.1.5 on all supported platforms
