APAR status

Error description

  • The client issues ANS7900W when the client detects that the
deduplication cache is not synchronized with the server. This
is normal processing behavior that does not affect the success
of the backup or archive operation.

The incorrect severity level leads to false alarms regarding
the status of the backup or archive operation:

     * The client operation will report a return code of 8.
     * The return code 8 will cause the Operations Center to label
       the client "at risk".

The ANS7900W severity should be reduced to 'Information'
(ANS7900I) so it will not set the return code to 8.

    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
IBM Spectrum Protect Backup-Archive Client versions 6.3, 6.4 and
    7.1

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:

    Initial Impact:
    Low

    Additional Keywords:
TSM, Client dedup, cache, at risk, operations center, OC,
scheduled, event, warning message, Tivoli Storage Manager,
    client-side, meta

    * discretion of IBM.                                           *
    ****************************************************************
The ANS7900W warning message related to dedup cache, cause "At
    Risk" status for Operations Center.
The backup completed successfully, but ANS9700W is excessive for
Operations Centre and generates "At Risk" status.
Need to use informational message ANS9700I instead of warning.

Problem conclusion

  • The ANS7900W wrong warning SEVERITY changed to informational
    ANS7900I
