Error description

  • Connect:Direct Windows process trying to do a remote RUN TASK
    on UNIX. The command line includes a pipe char, like:

    RUN TASK (PGM=UNIX) SNODE (SYSOPTS="cd /usr/local/data \;
    /bin/cp -f ´/bin/ls | head -1´ /tmp \;")

    This command, when it reaches the UNIX server, doubles the pipe
    (|), making it ||, which stands for OR in UNIX. So, the command
    succeeds, but copies all files instead of just one file.

    Problem Description:
    Pipe characters are doubled (||) in a RUN TASK/JOB step on a
    Sterling Connect:Direct UNIX SNODE. This affects the way that
    the UNIX shell interprets the specified command line, because
    "|" and "||" have a different meaning.

    Platforms Affected:
    Windows
