Error description

  • Change events for the new "Change Authority Record" MsgSeqNumber
( MQRC_CONFIG_CHANGE_OBJECT) is 0 for both before and after
message for "Change Authority Record" events which effectively
means that the event was not recorded.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
WMQ version 8 users using event messages for change authority
    records.

This functionality was added at MQ 8.0.0.4.

    Platforms affected:
Linux on x86, Linux on x86-64, Windows

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A coding error meant that before and after change authority
record event messages were always put with with a MsgSeqNumber
of '0' in the MQCFH structure when put to the event queue as a
result of a "SET AUTHREC" runmqsc command or PCF request.

Similarly, when change authority record event messages were put
as a result of a "setmqaut" command, a coding error meant that
the before and after messages respectively contained a
MsgSeqNumber of '0' and '1' in the MQCFH structure.

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM MQ queue manager event logic has been updated when
putting change authority record event messages such that the
MsgSeqNumber is '1' in the MQCFH structure of the before event,
and '2' in the MQCFH structure of the after event.

It should be noted that the MQMD header of the event message is
unaffected by this change. The MQMD structure also contains a
MsgSeqNumber field, and it is defined that this field will
always be '1' for an event message.
