Error description

  • NAS NDMP backup operation hangs before a  "BACKUP NODE" process
    appears started when doing "Q PROCESS" command.
    The problem happens because one or more volumes on the NAS has
    the word "snapshot" in it's name.
    
    The server is supposed to ignore snapshot volumes, but it fails
    to stop reading the list of volumes returned by the NAS  when
    the last volume listed has the "snapshot" pattern.
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Server Versions Affected:    6.3.x and
    7.1.x  all platforms .
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics :
    
    On the NAS side the ndmp backup log shows the list of volumes
    returned via ndmp api NDMP_CONFIG_GET_FS_INFO.
    The last volume listed shows the "snapshot" word. Example from a
    Netapp NAS with debug mode active =>

Local fix

  • - Rename NAS volume(s) such that they don't have the text
    "snapshot" in the name.
