APAR status

Error description

  • The command ?q log? on Tivoli Storage Manager server may return
    the following message:
    
    tsm> query log
    ANS8001I Return code 9999
    
    and does not provide any information on log usage.
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    A server trace (flags DB, LOG) shows the following message:
    
    FFDC_GENERAL_SERVER_ERROR ]: (rdbdb.c:4562)
    GetOtherLogsUsageInfo failed, rc=9999, archFailOverLogDir =
    /opt/tivoli/disk/tsm6archlogfailover.
    
    The problem will occur any time the free space and total
    available space (means: the file system size) for a log
    directory are exactly the same, the QUERY LOG command will fail
    with the symptoms mentioned.
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: All Tivoli Storage
    Manager 6.3.4 and above, 7.1.0 and above on all platforms.
    
    Initial Impact: Low

Local fix

  • Put a small file in the log directory so that the free space is
    less than the file system size.
