APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • LDAP configuration export did not succeed, causing 5.2.8 upgrade
    to fail and log the following message:
    BPCIN0202E:  Runtime errors have occurred during the IBM
    Spectrum Control preinstallation process.  The installation
    program cannot recover from this error.
    Review of lax*.* logs in %temp% shows the following error
    sequence, which shows that the LDAP configuration export failed
    and the installer is unable to read encrypted password strings
    that it needs:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: ERROR: userID cannot be null
    or empty at

    RECREATE STEPS:  Attempt to upgrade prior TPC versions to
    Spectrum Control 5.2.8 on an LDAP-configured server.

Local fix

  • Locate the following file:
    <tpc_install_dir>\config\InstallVariable.properties
    Add the following properties to that file (they are missing):
    varWSAdmUsrID=
    varWSAdmUsrPW=
    
    Set those values - the ID and password, to match the values that
    are stored in that file for these two variables: varCommonUsrID
    varCommonUsrPW
    varWSAdmUsrID with same stored value as varCommonUsrID
    varWSAdmUsrPW with same stored value as varCommonUsrPW
    ***Ensure that you do a copy&paste for the values and there's no
    space before or after the value.
    Save the file and restart the TPC installer.
    

Problem summary

    * Tivoli Common Reporting" link.                               *

Problem conclusion

  • The fix for this APAR is targeted for the following maintenance

Temporary fix
