Error description
The user created a virtual system pattern that would use all the CPU available. They then added a scaling policy to ensure that it would scale up. The scaling operation never occurred and the logs contained the following messages: app.scripts.groovy.rainmaker.instances. VirtualMachineStatusUpdates.groovy run java.lang.RuntimeException: java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: com.ibm.iaas.api.client.exception.MaestroRestException: CWZIP2052E Unable to increase CPU when the virtual machine is running as current CPU count is 9 and hot-add is disabled. groovy.rainmaker.instances.VirtualMachineStatusUpdates .run(VirtualMachineStatusUpdates.groovy:556) groovy.rainmaker.core.EventUtils._fire(EventUtils.groovy:129)
Local fix
Problem summary
Usually if the maximum virtual CPU has been reached, a message is displayed indicating that scale-out is not possible. The maximun virtual CPU value for Linux systems is 8. In this case the initial virtual CPU was 8, the same as the maximum virtual CPU, and the message was not being displayed.
Problem conclusion
A code fix is being provided in PureApplication System version 2.1.2.0 in the Foundation Pattern Type version 2.1.5.0.
