Error description

  • Certain DB2 client components missing from the DB2 installation
    portion of the Tivoli Storage Manager installation can cause
    problems communicating with the DB2 instance on the Tivoli
    Storage Manager Server.  For example:
    
    Issuing the following within PowerShell:
    $factory = [System.Data.Common.DbProviderFactories]::GetFactory(
    IBM.Data.DB2 )
    
    will report the following:
    Exception calling "GetFactory with "1" argument(S): "Unable to
    find the
    requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be
    installed."
    
    
    Another example:
    
    C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\db2\BIN>db2lswtch -client -promote
    DB22010E  An error occurred when registering the IBM .NET data
    provider
    for the copy "DB2TSM1" in the global assembly cache.
    
    
    Versions Affected:
    Tivoli Storage Manager Server 7.1 on Windows
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics
    Installing the Tivoli Storage Manager Server includes the DB2
    Server installation package.  This package has historically
    included certain DB2 Client components that could be used to
    communicate with the DB2 instance on the Tivoli Storage Manager
    Server, but certain packages were not included in the 7.1
    installation package.
